Concept
Words say a lot about the society we live in. And that society
is always changing. Sometimes new words emerge, sometimes
words need to evolve. Language is not a monolith.
Insight
Abortion has not been legal in our country for very long. And
often the debate surrounding abortion still flares up. A lot
of people still oppose the abortion law. Including many men.
The word “abortion” also has a very negative connotation,
because literally translated it means: away from birth.
Despite the conscious and deliberate choice of the woman. For
all these reasons, we need a new word.
Idea
In order to portray my new word, I have chosen to make a short
case film. This seemed the best choice as it allowed me to
clearly demonstrate the problem. The problem at hand:
admitting as a woman that abortion is something you feel
ashamed of. That has to change. The case film shows you and
makes you feel how it could be done.
The people in the case film have not actually committed
abortion. It’s fictional.
